Fidelity Investments is in the final stages of testing its own U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin as part of its growing interest in blockchain-based financial products. The $5.9 trillion asset manager is expected to integrate the token into its tokenized U.S. Treasury money market fund on Ethereum. This move follows Fidelity’s recent SEC filing for an on-chain share class of its Treasury Digital Fund (FYHXX), an $80 million fund primarily holding U.S. Treasury bills. The on-chain share class, which is pending approval, is set to take effect on May 30. Other financial institutions are also entering the stablecoin market. Custodia and Vantage…
Risk assets such as bitcoin (BTC), xrp (XRP), solana (SOL) are back in focus as President Donald Trump warned of even more reciprocal tariffs if other countries collude to do “economic harm” to the U.S. “If the European Union works with Canada in order to do economic harm to the USA,” he wrote in a Truth Social post in early Asian hours Thursday, “large scale Tariffs, far larger than currently planned, will be placed on them both in order to protect the best friend that each of those two countries has ever had!” “Liberation day in America is coming, soon,”…
New Zealand stumper-batsman Tom Latham was ruled out of the one-day series against Pakistan with a hand injury on Thursday leaving Michael Bracewell to continue as the side’s captain. With regular white-ball captain Mitchell Santner busy in the Indian Premier League, Bracewell led New Zealand to a 4-1 victory in a T20 series against Pakistan. Latham was due to lead New Zealand in the three-match ODI series beginning in Napier on Saturday, but he fractured his hand while batting in the nets and will require at least four weeks to recover, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a statement.…
There’s a long-standing rivalry between the king of cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), and the coin that many have considered to be the heir to the throne, Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH). But there aren’t actually too many similarities between these two, despite what their competition suggests. And there’s a much stronger case for buying a lot of one than there is for the other, so let’s dive in and analyze the situation. Bitcoin is both a store of value and to a lesser extent a medium of exchange, fulfilling two of the canonical properties of money. Its value is created by demand from…

CNN — The Trump administration’s culling of government programs and agencies has resulted in an unprecedented wave of federal workers joining the ranks of job seekers — and new data shows a spike in job applications from agencies impacted by the Department of Government Efficiency. Those job hunts are coming at a time when rising uncertainty around President Donald Trump’s economic agenda is clouding businesses’ decision-making and further slowing hiring — especially for specialized and white-collar roles. They’re entering a labor market that’s “a little bit frozen,” but stable for now, noted Allison Shrivastava, an economist at the Indeed Hiring…
With the stock market off its record high, it looks like investors have adopted a more cautious approach toward cryptocurrencies as well. After the market cap of the digital asset industry peaked at about $3.7 trillion in December, it has fallen 22% (as of March 24). The asset class is once again showing investors how cyclical it can be. If you’re a long-term investor, though, then there’s an opportunity to take advantage of the volatility and fear. In fact, there’s one cryptocurrency, which is currently trading 19% off its peak, that has 14,623% upside. That’s according to Michael Saylor, the…
AL AHSA: Pakistan showed grit and determination but ultimately it wasn’t enough to keep out Syria. Stephen Constantine’s men fell to a 2-0 loss to the much-fancied Syrians in their Group ‘E’ opener in the final round of qualifiers for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup at the Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Stadium on Tuesday night; the result leaving them bottom of a section that also has Afghanistan and Myanmar. Only the group winner advances to the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia in two years’ time and the victory put Syria in pole position to qualify for their third consecutive appearance…
The crypto industry will be listening closely when Paul Atkins, President Trump’s pick to run the Securities and Exchange Commission, testifies before the Senate Thursday in his nomination hearing. Atkins is expected to reexamine and revise a lot of what the agency did during the Biden administration, notably its approach toward regulating digital assets. For years, Atkins has made it clear he favors clearer regulations of cryptocurrencies that don’t impose unnecessary oversight — and he intends to repeat that point before Senate lawmakers Thursday. “I have seen how ambiguous and non-existent regulations for digital assets create uncertainty in the market…
